Q&A

COLLAGE

Q: "Why is it that sometimes the chronology seems out of order?"

A: It is with some regret that I neglected to make clear in the introduction, that this book is a collage . . . a painting with splotches of vibrant color overlapping and melding into different colors . . . journal entries written at various times and various places (all noted specifically in the original manuscript) and then brought to mind in other times and places: a snack bar on the beach in Tel Aviv . . . under thatch and Palm trees in Doctor’s Cave, Montego Bay . . . the Kingston (Jamaica) waterfront . . . sweets shop in Kosovo or a sidewalk cafĂ© in Amsterdam. It is indeed overlapping dimensions in space-time, and that is how I experience this wonderful life that GOD has given me. It is my time-machine. I understand the legitimate observation by some readers and reviewers that the book at times appears choppy and non-chronological, moving back and forth in time with some repetition and overlap. It is difficult for the reader who is trying to piece it together. But the flashes of emotion which ‘tag’ my memories would be lost with ‘accuracy’ and time-line. Please forgive me.

MOTIVATION

Q: (quote from a reviewer): "His desire to be of service leads him to unlikely places such as Kosovo, Jamaica, and a few stints in the Israeli army. I was hoping for more insight as to how these assignments appealed so greatly to him and what was the motivation to take them on." (TF)

A: A wonderful question: From the time I came to the LORD in 1980, I wanted to serve HIM and prayed that the opportunity would present itself. IT DID, with GOD’S lovely fingerprints all over it. An episode of Chronic Fatigue followed by structural changes at work, a successfully completed special project and the restlessness that always preceded my ‘escapes’. These all led to my move into the mountains for a season and application for placement with MCC. They placed me in a project for the mentally ill in Jamaica. At age 49 I began to ‘grow up’ in Jamaica. The LORD did ‘the impossible’ there and I signed on to HIS programs from that day on. It was in Jamaica that I learned the truth about Israel from a Dave Hunt newsletter called: The Berean Call. Thus began the revolution in my understanding of Scripture and modern political history. MCC intensified an endogenous sense of justice that was borne in me by my family and the Bible, and as the next Holocaust brews in the minds of the Unholy Alliance, I became obsessed with serving God's Chosen People. Contrary to the heresy of Replacement Theology, they have never lost that position.
